If you are knowledgeable about the conventional versions of the hypnotic handshake induction you will be aware that it operates on the theory of pattern interrupts.

As shaking hands is one thing most of us simply do routinely, naturally, it means it's a hard wired unconscious routine. (like tying your own shoes, writing your signature, brushing your teeth, things you simply do without thinking.)

Now when this kind of routine is interrupted a state of complete blankness is caused.

How are you affected is you take the head down one track (shaking hands) that activates the unconscious pattern and programmed habits. In the same way they are comfortable on this automatic road, and their own unconscious thoughts are running the behavior without any cognizant feedback you disrupt the routine.

Doing some thing unexpected that breaks or cracks the routine throws their mind off the track, and simply leaves them in a state of total blankness, frantically searching for an additional track to hop on induces “hyper suggestibility. In other words, an overall willingness to comply with what ever you recommend (within reason naturally!).

There are no limits to how one can stop the sequence or what pattern you can interrupt (don't limit your self to handshake inductions!). But in this specific induction we will concentrate on an arm pull.

When you are shaking their hand and they are in the handshake pattern (just basically when they are in the act of shaking your hand in a natural and regular way) you offer a sharp pull on their own arm (the one you are shaking) with yours. Be sure to prevent seeming violent, and be gentle enough to make certain you do not cause any pain or injury (no folks, dislocating arms doesn't make a great induction!).
