Do you feel a little fuzzy in the throat and a little snuffly in the nose? It is easy to write the little tickles and sniffles off as nothing major and by the time you accept them for what they are, the illness has become very real. Instead of reaching for the medicine cabinet handle, look around your house-you probably have all sorts of natural health remedies in your possession already. There are more options out there than what you’ll find on your pharmacy shelves. While you don’t want to blow off instructions from a doctor, why not try out natural health methods for a few days before you schedule your doctor’s appointment? Also, something that has greatly improved my health is Shakeology. Check out these Shakeology reviews.

Start with water. You already know that you need to drink six to eight glasses of water a day to stay healthy but water can be used for more than simple refreshment. Instead of cracking open the Advil bottle when you have a headache, drink some water instead! Many headaches start because of dehydration. A headache will often start to fade as soon as you drink some water. In addition to keeping you hydrated you can use water for other things. When you have a fever, for example, take a hot bath-keep a cold compress on your head but let yourself sit in the hot bath for a while. Hot baths are great for relaxing the muscles as well as helping you sweat your fever out. Sweat is how your body does its own temperature regulation as well as how it brings fevers down. Look for a recipe for salve. Head and chest congestion are no match for a well made and effective salve. The good salve recipes use ingredients that are popular because they have healing powers and can break up congestion, fight fevers, combat germs and even help you absorb the nutrients you need. If you don’t have the time to make a salve from scratch, vaporub is a natural health alternative that is worth looking into. Salves work best when smeared onto the chest but they can also be dabbed under the nose or rubbed into the soles of your feet.

Learn to like steam. Save money and take a hot shower or bath instead of buying a bunch of sinus meds. Steam can relax your sinus passages which will aid your breathing. The hot water will help your muscles relax, which will help you get the rest you need to get better. If you don’t feel like taking a bath or shower, heat up some water on the stove in a pot and then (after moving the pot of water to a table) put your face over the water and drape a towel over your head. The towel helps contain the steam and move it toward your face as well as helping the water stay warm for longer periods of time. Steam, however you get it, relaxes your sinuses, makes it easier for you to breathe and makes blowing your nose more productive. Natural health cures are all over the place! There are natural ways to heal your cold or flu; you don’t have to use chemicals or drugs to feel better. While we would never advocate ignoring doctor’s orders, if you aren’t suffering from a major illness why not save yourself some time (and side effects) and treat your cold or flu naturally? Before you go, don’t forget to look at this article called “Shakeology scam“.
