Facts About Babies That You Might Not Know
Sure everybody knows that babies are cute and snuggly. They get to wear super cute and goofy looking clothes. At what other stage in life can a person wear a t-shirt that says “Daddy’s Princess” without getting funny looks? Most people think that being a baby is pretty easy. You might be surprised to learn that most people think that babies are already mostly adult except for a few developmental flaws like an inability to speak and a lack of teeth. Babies are actually quite different from adults have their own sets of needs and wants. Here is some (hopefully) new information about babies.baby facts
It is hard for most babies to tell the difference between one color and another when they are still very young. Not only does it take a while for the synapses in a baby’s brain to fully connect, their eyes take a few months to mature as well. The best colors you can use for your nursery and for your baby’s toys are primary colors, not pastels. Babies like bold colors like yellow or red or blue or black or white best. It is difficult for a baby to tell the difference between softer or more pastel shades.
This is why a baby will sometimes choose one toy instead of another. It is kind of a cruel joke that the decorations most parents find hideous because of their garish color schemes are actually the decorations (and toys) that are best for their children’s eyesight and brain development! Knowing how to hold his breath and how to swim are two things that your baby is born with. This is also something that your baby will rapidly forget as well. It is this instinct that makes some doctors believe water births are best. The basic belief is that since babies are “swimming” in their mothers’ wombs as they develop, being born into a pool of water is supposed to make the transition easier. These experts believe that the water helps them smooth the way from being a totally depended fetus to being an independent baby much better than a regular hospital birth.babies
It is easier for babies to learn how to communicate with their parents physically than it is for them to learn how to do so verbally. This is why so many parents swear by the “Baby Signs” program. These parents teach their kids how to sign for things like food, drink, diaper changes, naps, etc and it makes it a lot easier for babies to communicate what they need. Some research has even shown that babies who learn to communicate with the baby signs program (before they learn to talk) go on to have stronger communication skills that people who were not taught physical forms of communication at an early age.
The amount of untapped baby knowledge out there will astound you. This is ironic since having extra information usually helps an adult with his or her patience levels.
The more you know about babies, the better prepared you will be as a parent. Go to it!
