Curing Your Cold With Natural Health
You’ve started noticing a slightly running a nose and that your throat is a little sore. You’re probably trying to tell yourself that you aren’t really sick but you probably know, deep down, that the flu has already set in. Rather than swallowing a quick pill or two, why not do a quick inventory of the natural health remedies you have on hand? Using natural health methods to cure an illness is a fantastic alternative to trying to cure your flu with chemicals and drugs. We won’t tell you to ignore your doctor but before you schedule the appointment, why not try a natural remedy for a couple of days and see if it works? Riding a portable exercise bike helps with convenience and results.
Water is the best. Everybody knows they need between six and eight glasses of water each day but you can use water as more than something to quench your thirst. There is more to headache relief than simply taking some aspirin or ibuprofen-water is also a fantastic headache combatant. Dehydration is often the cause of headaches. Instead of waiting a long time for the drugs to take effect, drinking a glass of water will help you feel better in just a few minutes. While water is great for hydration it is great for other things too. Hot baths, for example, are great for helping people break fevers (just remember to keep a cold compress on your head so you don’t get dangerously overheated). The heat of the water in a hot bath will make you start sweating, which is what will help break your fever (and it will relax your muscles as well). Sweat is how your body does its own temperature regulation as well as how it brings fevers down. Look for a recipe for salve. People use salves to help combat congestion of the head and chest. There are quite a few salve recipes out there that are well known for their healing properties-the herbs and other natural ingredients used are good for the skin and your system and can be a great way to absorb the nutrients you need if your stomach is acting up. Even if it isn’t strictly natural, vaporub is a great salve to use. Salves work wonders because they can be put to work on a variety of places on the body and they do a variety of helpful things. Make tea. When you suffer from an illness you want to look for teas that contain peppermint, elder or yarrow. Making your own tea with helpful ingredients is useful as well. Tea can help raise your body temperature so that it starts to sweat, which will help it get rid of the toxins that are attacking it. People suffering from illnesses have a wide variety of herbal and other natural health options to choose from when they want to get better. Why would you fill your body with drugs when there is another way? While we would never advocate ignoring doctor’s orders, if you aren’t suffering from a major illness why not save yourself some time (and side effects) and treat your cold or flu naturally?
